AI Automation & Workflow Design
Personal study sheet
This is an independent study aid, not an official syllabus, admission assessment or promise of class assignments. Programme availability requires confirmation. Confirm the current teaching scope and practical access with the office.
Your notes remain in this open document; this sheet has no submission or automatic saving. Print after writing to keep a copy.
Set your starting point
Useful foundations: Understanding a business process is valuable. JSON, API and spreadsheet familiarity help with technical workflows.
Explore the learning roadmap
01Map the existing process
Identify triggers, inputs, decisions and the person responsible for an outcome. Remove ambiguity in the business rule before adding an AI step.
02Choose deterministic and AI steps
Use ordinary rules where the result is well defined and models where language or ambiguity makes them useful. Explain the reason for each choice.
03Connect services safely
Define authentication, input validation and the minimum permissions needed for an integration. Keep credentials in the platform's protected configuration rather than in shared workflow exports.
04Handle retries and duplicate work
Choose a stable record identifier and plan what happens when an event arrives twice. A retry should not create duplicate enquiries, emails or business records.
05Add review and useful notifications
Decide which outputs can continue automatically and which need a person. Provide enough context for a reviewer to act without exposing unrelated private information.
06Measure and maintain
Track completion, failures, manual exceptions and operating cost. Confirm the actual automation platform and connected-service access before selecting a programme.
Put the ideas into contextAI Automation & Workflows: a worked study example
Illustrative scenario for discussion and self-study.
In a fictional workflow, a form submission creates a record and proposes a follow-up message. The trigger arrives twice. Define a stable submission identifier, show how repeat delivery is recognised and decide when a human should review the proposed message before it is sent.
What to check in your work
- Make repeated triggers safe to handle.
- Keep a visible failed or awaiting-review state instead of losing the task.
How this pathway compares
Workflow automation concerns dependable sequences, whether or not every step uses AI. The AI Agents guide explores state and tool use, while Full Stack Development provides context for endpoints, stored records and user feedback.
Check your reasoning
Which workflow steps should remain deterministic rather than model-generated?
Suggested explanation
Use explicit rules for checks and transitions that have clear business requirements, such as required fields and permission boundaries. Introduce model reasoning only where it helps the task. Include rejected, uncertain and failed paths so the workflow can stop or hand off usefully.
Plan the conversation
Ask about the actual syllabus, practical environment and feedback arrangements. Confirm fees, duration, trainer and current batch schedule directly; this sheet supplies none of those details.
